FAMM (Families Aganist Mandatory Minimums)

Barbara Bates is a fashion designer in Chicago is working to educate the public about mandatory minimums. She recently hosted a reception in honor of her son, Kristopher Davis- who was recently sentenced to 19 years in prison on a conspiracy charge. Kristopher Davis is the youngest son of fChicago based fashion designer, Barbara Bates and businessman Michael Davis. Kristopher was recently a victim of a mandatory minimum sentence for conspiracy. Conspiracy (the INTENT to engage in a criminal act with others). He was sentenced to nineteen (19) years in a federal prison. Surely, the crime, does not fit the time. Kristopher is only one of thousands incarcerated under this law. With your help and awareness of this disparity, we can help to eliminate this law.On March 13th, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, introduced a bill to Congress, H.R. 1466. This bill will eliminate mandatory minimum sentences and give judges the discretion to prosecute and sentence appropriately. We can make a change....Now is the time......PLEASE join FAMM and urge your congressman or state representative to be a co-sponsor of HR 1466.We are the voices that made a change and elected the first African American President. We are the same voices that can eliminate mandatory minimum sentences.YES WE CAN!
