
Terrance Boykin Was Arrested In Downstate Carbondale
CARBONDALE, Ill. (CBS) ― A Chicago-based rapper could be performing his next set inside the Metropolitan Correctional Center after being charged by federal authorities with robbing an Oak Park bank in 2007.
Terrance Boykin, 28, of the 1200 block of South State Street, was arrested in downstate Carbondale following a routine traffic stop, according to the FBI.
He was wanted in the Jan. 4, 2007, robbery of a Chase Bank Branch at 800 W. Madison St. in Oak Park.
Boykin is a Chicago-based rap artist who goes by "Bump J," according to the FBI.
In the robbery, two men with handguns entered the bank and announced a robbery, the FBI said.
The men forced bank employees to hand over cash from the teller drawers and vault, and made off with more than $100,000, the FBI said. No injuries were reported, and the robbery was caught on surveillance cameras, the FBI said.
Boykin had been the subject of a nationwide manhunt. The other man has not been located.
Boykin is being held without bond in Carbondale and will be returned to Chicago, the FBI said. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
